Richard advises clients across the media and entertainment industry with a particular focus on rights acquisition, development, production and distribution in relation to film and television.
Richard acts for a range of clients including production companies (from independent UK producers to major US studios and SVOD platforms), rights-holders, agencies and individual writers, directors and producers.

Richard trained and qualified as an attorney in South Africa before moving to London in 2020 and requalifying as a solicitor of England & Wales.
Prior to joining Harbottle & Lewis, Richard was an in-house lawyer at Fremantle in London, working across the development and acquisition of television programmes, as well as the licensing and distribution of programmes and format rights throughout EMEA, Latin America and Canada.
